Finally watched this. And I'm utterly baffled. It's not just drum problems, there are weird guitar issues goin on, you guys notice? Somebody keeps ringing out and
playing wrong parts. Chapel around 1:50 and then some, is a mess too. GOE is devastating, I cant believe it.

From the little bit of blasting before the vid got cut off
on WOS, he seems to blast a bit on top of the tempo, gets ahead of it.

Yeah, GoE is easily the worst train wreck that I've ever seen/heard from a professional band.

Tim Yeung is too eager; he overdoes it, while the guitar parts are ruined. I hope it's Thor so he can get replaced but I'm afraid it's Trey himself :/
I never seen MA sounding bad like this, hopefully it's just a one time bad day indeed.

Yeah...i'm sure it was probably just a monitor + confusion = clusterfuck issue. Tim's more than capable of filling in pete's shoes. I'm sure he'll be fine...Still hope the f33t can make a full recovery and get back where he belongs.

Tim forgot morbid do no follow the traditional pattern of playing a riff in the multiple of 4.
that riff in chapel of ghouls comes 6 times, he changed the beat after 4

Agreed but I would be curious if this can be answered:

Derek Roddy wrote:
Something else I want to bring up.....and maybe Punchy (or Pete himself) could answer for us. Because I'm interested to know.
Within the "camps" of the Tampa bands....I noticed this statement being used a lot...."give your life to the band".
O.K. Fine....which a lot of people have done. No worries with that if.......the band looks after you when things like this happen.
So my question is.....Pete has given his life to MA....How much financial help did Pete receive from MA in his time of need? 10%, 50% 90%....all of it?
D
Now THIS is a great question. As long as we have people in the inside on here and this is a learning environment, might as well ask some good, hard questions.
I have one for Punchy:
What, if anything, could Pete have done differently to prepare for this stage of his life? [/quote]
I have wondered about it myself. Maybe because I am older with my own family now, maybe because I do consider MA to have been a high source of inspiration to my spiritual life and mental well being, hell maybe because I do genuinely care for fuckers I have never even met but once

Anywho. And also, I have tried to find Pete's Facebook but shit! Which one is it? I'd be more than happy to help out as most fans I am sure would but still. It (questions referenced above) would be interesting to know if for no other reason than my own personal curiosity. Also did not realize Punchy was the hard-on bearer asking for a drum check.

Heal up Pete!

I think it's funny how his needing surgery happened right around the time the album was being recorded. And I agree with the post saying that MA could have waited for him to recover. It's already been the better part of a decade, they couldn't wait a little longer?
What kind of back problem did he have anyway?

Herniated disc from playing in combat boots is what I have heard, but that is strictly hear-say.

I heard this too. I wouldn't have thought combat boots were conducive to playing drums, espeially at the speeds he plays.

i think herniated discs are quite common, and often no cause is found, so maybe (assuming thats what it was) it had nothing to do with drumming

Damn good point

: Any of you guys play drums? You play in boots? The way he perfected commando style, could wearing boots give greater strain and pressure to the back? I mean, Pete is fucking insanely wicked fast on double bass. Lord of All Fevers and Plagues, when I first heard it, was like" MOTHER FUCKER!!!!"

In a recent interview with Sick Drummer Magazine they asked Pete about him drumming in boots. He said his boots are really light weight and thin, so I don't see how they're a problem.

I'd be interested to know why. Is it just a habit they've got themselves into or is there some particular reason related to drum technique?

I guess I'm deaf but didn't notice anything "off" about GoE. But either way, hopefully Tim continues to fuck up the song and they drop it from the setlist, as it's easily the weakness song in their catalog they play live. Yet every fucktard loves it cause they have an MTV video for it.

I know Tim does a lot of drummer barefooted or with just socks on.
There are a lot of drummers that prefer that. Or some lightweight sneakers.
