it really is one of the greatest live albums ever

I always liked DOA because it sounds like a really good bootleg and not some studio magic live bullshit.

Some moments on this that are stuck in my head. That scream from the audience during the Hell Awaits intro Tom's words before War Ensemble. I also think this raised my interest in the first two albums. If I remember correctly, it's been a while Slayer! :horns:

it was more less a joke but i like live albums to have a really loud, clear production that has a punch to it. since decade of aggression is over 20 years old obviously it doesnt have that great of a sound. i do understand that there is appeal to the original recording for what it is

i think doa sounds splendid. it sounds like slayer going "you dont need to push that to the max for the CD because we already did that in concert "

The beauty of Slayer is their adherence to principle. The principle of BRUTALITY! I can honestly say that were it not for listening to Blessed Are the Sick and Altars of Madness back in the day, my fanaticism would be for Slayer and not MA. As up until that point it was purely Metallica and the Slaytanic Nation baby!



For then, it became nothing but pure Damnation and Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost during the Day of Suffering as I walked with the Ancient Ones and In Remembrance I longed for the Desolate Ways as I continued forth in to the Chapel of Ghouls in order to Bleed For the Devil as I cried out to the Lord of All Fevers and Plague! The Visions From the Dark-side renewed the Evil Spells discovered within the Maze of Torment as my Fall from Grace into the Rebel Lands cleansed my mind with a Brainstorm of knowing, Thy Kingdom Come!



I have never looked back once.



Plus, last time I saw them, when Raining Blood starting playing, it started raining red inside the club Or either the acid was kicking a helluva lot harder than I realized

Yeah Lombardo did kind of drag his feet on that album. But wasn't he suffering pretty bad from back pain/disinterest in the band around that time? It also sounds like there were some issues with the drum mics.



Awesome set list though, and Slayer is pretty much my only motivation to get new computer speakers since one of the channels no longer works.
