New Cynic out 11-11-11

i listened to it a few times but the last one didn't do anything for me. i will probably skip this one

i did not listen before but is good artwork

I miss the death metal elements in it: it's too much Aeon Spokish.

This has caught my interest.

The old stuff is so awkward with proper death metal being spoiled by those AWFUL synthesized vocals. The new stuff actually makes the vocal approach work.

I like both. two different and vastly set apart eras.

I think the growls on Traced actually have the same effect.

Yeah I guess it fits together better, but the main problem is it still sounds like the new-age shelf at barnes and noble. I bet Paul Masvidal has read 'the secret' at least three times.

Traces of his art are quite evident that this could be his peice. If your talking about gateways or the that warbringer album then yeah it looks nothing alike

if you spend more than like three seconds looking at those covers and then at the new cynic, you can tell pretty easily that they're done by two different artists. whatever similarities there are in the subjects, the techniques used don't resemble each other at all. the new cynic ain't seagrave and i'd put money on that

The "Carbon-Based Anatomy" artwork was designed by the great Robert Venosa, the artist behind the covers of CYNIC's previous releases "Focus", "Traced in Air" and "Re-Traced".

.. I think we can all agree that's one sick ass cover! We need more of this type of artwork these days not that horseshit photoshop deluxe Vadimvon bullshit and everything bands nowadays use.
