it's so silly when bands or artists try so hard to conform to genre "rules"



just do your own thing and don't worry about how "true" you are to a genre



sort of like people who hate Metallica just because they cut their hair, when really they changed on the self titled (which frankly isn't very different from Load and Reload)

this is the correct approach, labels and genre tags are for hipsters and journos (which are usually the one and same) so they can demonstrate their high level of hipsterness.

It is natural to want to organize and classify things. Genres are fine, but getting hung up on them to the exclusion of good music is not.

also, genres are ok for music classification, but for a band to follow the rules of a genre so strictly will bring upon Cannibal Corpse-syndrome, which equates to a lot of mundane and no longer boundary pushing material, unlike their earlier material.



it's sort of the extreme opposite answer to Metallica, complete unchanging, just weaker versions of the old material
