instead of a multi-million dollar studio-slash-headquarters. some of the songs are still mega-turds but it would be interesting to hear the album if it actually sounded dirty and raw rather than deliberately underproduced on fancy dancy equipment

naah, i'm glad it was recorded. things can be terrible and interesting at the same time. lulu, on the other hand

one of my friends is a collector of bad music (as in think of all the bad movies that mst3k likes to use...but music instead of movies...). i've been told that lulu and st anger are in his top ten. the strange thing is that he actually seems to enjoy them and not in a humorous kind of way.

i listened to all of st anger a couple of weeks ago for the first time in years.



wasn't so bad

there are a few good songs on st. anger but they sound terrible. the long songs (6+ minutes) are almost uniformly bad. they're just "this part, then that part; now repeat three more times." i admire them for being willing to tough out what was clearly the most uncertain period in their history, but a really poorly thought-out album is the result of it. i find it interesting to listen to but not really pleasurable

some kind of monster - has one great riff after about 6.5 minutes

the unnamed feeling is one of the worst metallica songs of all time



the lyrics to my world are crap but i think it comes closest to the kind of aggression and positive energy they were trying to channel. it and sweet amber and purify are the good songs. frantic and dirty gay man's telescope have neat things in them. all within my hands is the best of the bad songs and all the other ones are either too long or too boring or both

its fun to listen to just for curiosity factor. people take things too seriously.

The Stanger DVD sounds better

i bought st. anger at a Target when it came out, and I swear to god, drove straight from there to the used CD store and sold it.
