It is either Nightside or Anthems. I bounce between the two, depending on my mood.

anthems and equilibrium have always been warm-weather albums for me, the rest are much better in the cold seasons though

Only listened to Nightside, good stuff but can't really get heavily into it. Beyond the great vast forest though is

Anthems by far. It is another level.

I usually jam Emperor the most in the grimwinter but I can reallllly see Towards The Pantheon, The Wanderer and other tunes from Anthems and Nightside being fucking amazing on a summer's night.

There's nothing wrong with liking Prometheus the mostest. It is very good in its own manner, different from the older material.

umm, yes, it's different in that it doesn't remotely approach the greatness of nightside. sorry prometheus people, your opinions are wrong.

i mean don't get me wrong here, i think it's a fine album. just ain't their best and isn't anywhere close to being their best.

Anthems that record just has so much awesome moments and great songwriting. The whole vibe is perfect.

I'd say Prometheus. It's by far their most underrated album most certainly, and you could hear the direction that Ihsahn was going prior to the break-up with this one. It's most certainly not black metal, but a whole lot more progressive than the others. And honestly, I believe that the reason why it's not appreciated more than Anthems and Nightside is because it's not a black metal album. Even though it's not the most popular, doesn't mean that it's not the best. It's well written, the most well composed, and the most well thought out album he has written while being in emperor.
