Does anyone know if Erik is a self-taught guitarist or did he have a teacher?

He was taught by Ralph Santolla i think. He did have a teacher, thats for sure.

Erik's soloing has always made me think that he's been trained by somebody.
Wiki says Ralph Santolla taught Mike Davis, which is cool too.

Ralph Santolla taught and wrote a bunch of solos for Eric Hoffman, from Deicide.

pretty sure erik's self-taught, I remember him saying in an interview that he was in jail for like 3 years or something as a teenager and he picked up guitar to get out of all that shit.
I'm sure he's picked shit up along the way though - shaune kelly, trey...

i'm really disappointed Trey & Mike didn't end up doing anything with Chewing Inc.

Erik had classical lessons from (music) school, and his family. I do think he was self-taught concerning the metal stuff.
