-Recommendations for compositions from the classical and romantic periods. Concertos, symphonies, solo instrument stuff.
-Minor keys only. Major keys make me want to hurl.
-Bonus points for any suggestions that have bitchin' sections featuring the French horn.

Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto in D Minor is awesome. Also try Mahler's 6th and 9th Symphonies (both are very dark).

Mahler's 6th has some reallllly cool movements.

Dvorak and prokoviev also. Two of the best out there with that 'Mother Russia' feel.

Ha, i had actually typed 'i'm aware Dvorak is czech' but i backspaced it cos i didnt want to sound like a know-it-all. Glad to see that title was eagerly swept up by your good self.
Anyway, the háček over the r in his name should be enough to signify czech origin LOL
