Gary Holt replaces Jeff Hannemann on Australia Tour

Metal Hammer Germany states that Slayer Guitarist Jeff Hannemann recovers from an infection called "Necrotizing Fasciitis" ( due to an estimated spider bite!!!) and will not play on the forthcoming Australia dates!
As replacement Gary Holt from Exodus will jump in since the Band decided not to cancel/delay again any shows as they did due to Tom's and Kerry's health problems!

Well he has been to hospital for an operation in january so I think it's a serious reason behind it!
I'm curious if the spider has survived biting Mr. Heineken ...

spider bites can be pretty fucking awful if you don't treat them. a fellating lover of mine did this because he didn't think it was a big deal and let it go. his arm had nearly double in size and he had to keep it wrapped in gauze to help contain "leakage" before the dumb shit went to the hospital.

Yes, the German Slayer.net Site says it has been an emergency operation on his right arm (just found this info...) , it's a bit strange that this information only appears on the german site and in the German Metal Hammer news, international MH and Slayer sites are "quiet" about that...?!

Surgery on his arm for necrotising fasciitis doesn't sound great. Necrotising fasciitis is when you get a very rapidly spreading infection along the plane between your skin and muscle. Needs urgent and complete removal of the dead tissue. Hopefully he has some arm left.
Although, I assume he does, or we would surely have been informed.

Sorry for giving this infos piece by piece (too lazy to translate the whole articles)!
He has received some skin transplantation and seems to be on a good way!
The additional Big 4 Dates have been announced after the operation so it generally seems to be not as serious as it might sound (otherwise I wouldn't add a comment as in my first reply!!!) and it looks good that he'll fully recover from that!
Both articles also say that it is estimated that a spider bite has caused that but it's not 100% confirmed!!!
I'm still confused that this infos are not appearing on the USA/UK/Canadian etc... Slayer sites ore the UK Metal Hammer, well maybe they'll put some more light/infos into that within the next week(s)....
