M87 - 'M24' and album news...

It's been a while since I put any new M87 stuff up, as I've been concentrating so much on the Devoid and Cziltang Brone releases. So, to get the space-music side of things back on track here's 'M24', which is not only a beautiful star cloud in Saggittarius but is also a recording I've rescued from the original recording made back in 1998, around the time the first M87 album 'Noctilucent Threnody' was being recorded and was actually one of the candidate pieces to be included on the album itself. I've managed to locate and digitise all the original master recordings of Noctilucent Threnody' and a bunch of other pieces from that period, and have just finished painstakingly restoring and editing them so as to produce the most accurate possible representation of the original scores from the performances captured on tape for the album.

As 'Noctilucent Threnody' has been unavailable for many years now, I'm planning to make it available again fairly soon via Bandcamp as a completely remastered and remixed version complete with several bonus tracks that were originally recorded at the time for possible inclusion on the album; now that I'm not limited by the playing time of a single CD I can put out a far more expansive collection of pieces (giving value for money is important, dammit!). What you're hearing right now is one of those tracks - another is the 28-minute epic 'S Doradus' - and if you compare the sound of this to the album version of 'OQ 172' posted on this channel you'll easily be able to hear the sonic difference. The second M87 album will be called 'Abyssal Symphonies' as I always intended, and currently I'm looking to get that recorded and released in the first half of next year; that one's going be a massive project for sure.
