I couldn't belive my ears or eyes first time i heard this. He's so emotional on stage, his playing was so alive.

R.I.P Shawn Lane.

Fuck yeah, boss. Shawn Lane was an absolutely unreal guitarist; probably the best technically, and he could actually make coherent music that didn't just sound wanky.

I really like the chord progression in this one. Plus, the long lick starting at 1:52 is just mind boggling.

And then there's this. Shawn and Paul Gilbert did a cover of the Beatles' "Let it Be" at NAMM in '93. Gilbert is one off the premier shredders of all time, and he gets his fucking head taken off:

Youtube description: Shawn Lane's 'Earth shattering' solo begins at around 3:55, one of the most intense guitar solos ever captured as a recording IMO. Apparently (from people who were lucky enough to be there) this audience was literally packed out with many well known 'guitar heroes', who probably got the shock of their life to see Shawn pull this off right in front of them. Back then Shawn was still just an urban legend in the guitar world, with stories told about him from those lucky enough to have seen him in person. This show was like a big unveiling of Shawn.

Personally, I've always been stunned at this solo. For someone to shred that hard, with perfect intonation the entire way through, and for it to still be tasteful, it's just scary. Plus there's the one lick towards the end that's just like...how the fuck do you do that???? You'll know the one I mean.

It's his adaptation of the death theme from The Untouchables, when Sean Connery dies.
