Primus Returns to the Road, Plans New Album

Get ready to yell "Primus sucks!" because, yes, Les Claypool has reactivated the band and they're heading back on the road this summer after a four-year absence. The iconic alternative group, which once encouraged their fans to yell "Primus sucks!" as a way of chiding them into an encore, will kick things off in Toronto on July 27. They'll bring gypsy punks Gogol Bordello with them for most dates but will then cross the finish line on August 15 in Santa Barbara, Calif. with Wolfmother in support. Primus is also scheduled to perform at this year's Gathering of the Vibes festival in Bridgeport, Ct. on July 31.



That's super exciting news and all but we've saved the best for last: Primus plans to release a new album sometime next year. A press release states that this tour will help the band "refine their chops before heading into the studio to record their first album of brand new music since 1999's 'Antipop.'"



We imagine that they'll do an encore even if the crowd doesn't yell "Primus sucks!" But, you know -- better play it safe.

On the one hand, that was funny. On the other hand, you can't state proudly that you're about to release an album of 60's Italian music, and then ask, mockingly, about the year. I know, Italian music with orchestra does not equal 60's style rock, but the fact is that both are anachronisms.



But yeah, in a world where Led Zeppelin and Cream have existed, we don't really need Wolfmother.

Funny, i had primus on the brain all day today.



Man, i dunno if it's the popular opinion but Antipop if my fave primus album. Bodacious and drowning man and sacred cow are some of my favourite tunes EVA!
