Yes I have listened to the 1:30 samples a lot and I still think too extreme could bring some interesting stuff, guitar wise.

Anyone else think 10 More Dead could have been a good song without the "TEN. MORE. DEAD." sample thingey and David's faggotry?

Also Beauty Meets Beast sounds phenomenal I'd say.

I agree with the Ten More Dead vocal part. A lot of the chorusses contain those "gang vocals", and I don't like them one bit. :oldryan:

I'm starting to agree with that... the more I listen to David's vocals the more they annoy me. :frown: I even said Existo sounded very aggressive vocal-wise, but I don't like them anymore. :homework:

The new Autopsy album makes up for whatever blunders Morbid Angel will be unleashing upon the world come June.

I hate to shit on your Hate Eternal and Autopsy comparisons but everything Hate Eternal has done after King of all Kings has been poop. Autopsy have no 'great' albums, only 'good' ones. The new Autopsy album has a few good songs. Nothing earth-shattering and definitely not the saviours of 'Death Metal in the year 2011'.
We've all heard Existo Vulgore, and we've all heard Nevermore. IMO, these are 100% awesome Morbid Angel songs, both in production and musically. And what the hell, how can you compare the new MA to the Unspoken King? That is fucking insane. Morbid Angels path is 10000 miles away from a band like Cryptopsy. Morbid Angel will always do something diffrent. Just shut up and let the record speak for it self when it comes out. Everyone here at this board does have the competense to go out and buy it and find out for themselves how the album is, and what it is to them . And all you possessors of "inside-information" about the new album, keep your pessimism to your self.
This fucking track can KISS MY ASS, so can this stupid album do. This is new "Load". ILLUD = "Let's take a shit all over our discography and just wimp out"
You can't compare them, but I am extremely happy with it.
I wouldn't do that normally, but seriously. They have fucking rock n' roll and nu metal stuff.
I don't think anyone's actually comparing. Just saying "we like these bands too, and we're glad that at least their recent output doesn't suck." Plus, they have drums, which is cool.

It's encouraging that we're not swimming in fanboy-ism.

I've gone through some of the same sequence of thoughts as Maze in the stuff you quoted. It's like the stages of grief:

1a. Denial...:

I'm sorry guys, but if anyone here honestly says that Autopsy haven't released a great album then they either have not heard Severed Survival or Mental Funeral, or I'm going to have to write a book called The Morbid Angel Delusion.

Hahaha well. I really tried out because Existo and Nevermore sounded good in their own, as singel tracks. And to dislike a band that you've always loved is quite a hard thing. But after this 1:30 preview thing, I don't like it. It doesn't matter if there are some good riffing and feeling here and there, the atmosphere and the feeling I get from it is NOT good. I mean, what's the deal? They're way off the road. Also how they mix the occult kind of things with Hardcore-attitude lyrics = Just AWFUL.

I think its pretty acceptable for him to announce his opinion. I'm pretty sure that was an opinion he was stating, rather than some sort of objective truth.

And just for the record I disagree with him with regards to Hate Eternal, I like everything they've put out.

At some point I'm going to get down my thoughts on the new Morbid Angel material but at this moment in time I'm finding it a bit hard to process.

It is going to be great when the entire album is out because with the passions and in-depth type Socratic Discourse we have put just the intro's through, holy bleeding Mary, what's it gonna be when we have the entire album to digest. That I have a feeling will be THE thread of threads :xx:

I just listened the samples and I'm really disapointed but somehow I do like what I hear; Really mixed feelings about the songs. Maybe the disapointment comes from the fact that the band name labeled on the cover is Morbid Angel.

I need to listen the whole album.

Deep inside of me I still have hopes that all of this is just a bad April Fools' joke, and that the band are gonna come out and say 'ok, we were only joking, this is now for real' and release an album which is on par with 'Heretic' at least.

I'm really conflicted about it - which is better than being bored by it, The fanboy in me wants to like the new MA album purely because it's the new MA album, the rational critical thinker in me slaps the fanboy part down and tells it to wait till it hears the whole thing. I suppose. For one thing it'll sound a hell of a lot better when we have the actual CD rather than compressed YouTube sound, which will help. I listened to the samples again last night and I suspect that 'Too Extreme' and 'Destructos...' are growing on me, with That Song being the one real potential sticking point; I don't think it's a 'Cold Lake'-esque total trainwreck, but neither is it a pure-gold shot to the cranium like 'F' or 'C'. There is an element of 'there's no such thing as bad publicity' in the furore that's built up around 'I', but only time will tell how this plays out.

By the way, in That Song I'm fairly sure DV is singing 'killer cult' and not 'kill a cop'; it's not a huge improvement, but at least it's better than him sounding like he's got a bad case of the Ice-Ts.
