Thanks for posting this interview! It's great to read how this two awesome individuals are feeling about their new Masterwork!

Can't wait for Illud Divinum Insanus cd to be delivered by mailman! I just can't download Illud Divinum Insanus or listen to the full songs that have been posted here. I want to get their music on their terms, even if I have to wait, I'm grateful that there even is something worth waiting for in this crazy world! I followed this ritual of hearing a Morbid Angel album after it's relesed since Blessed in 91 and it has allways been THE MOST rewarding!

Altars of Madness was inducted into the Hall of Fame in dB #18. Trey Azagthoth was named "#1 Death Metal Guitarist Ever" in dB #34. Now, Morbid Angel grace the cover of dB a second time. It's fair to say the Floridians have a special place in our heart of hearts. To say their music has floored us would be an understatement. Therefore, it's with extremely supreme disappointment that Illud Divinum Insanus fails spectacularly on multiple levels.



Of course, bands of significant weight have experienced a lowlight or two. Hit a creative nadir. Celtic Frost's Cold Lake, Metallica's Load and Megadeth's Risk alienated longtime-- even rabid-- fans, while critics had a field day skewering what were once perceivably invincible titans. It happens. And it's unfortunate. Illud Divinum Insanus is Morbid Angel's lowlight, their creative and sonic nadir. Why that is we'll never know. But Illud Divinum Insanus is what it is.



Azagthoth warned the faithful as far back as 2009 that he was really in "hardcore music" and the "fuckin' serious, artistic stuff" was penetrating his mindlair. Unfortunately, for Azagthoth (and one assumes David Vincent as well), the inclusion of "hardcore music" has, for all fucking intents and purposes, dated Morbid Angel. Right back to 1997. It's as if Azagthoth, while cleaning out Shub-Niggurath's Tampa-based storage unit, found an old box of Earache promos, which contained cutout bin albums by Ultraviolence, Scanner and the Industrial Strength and Hellspawn: Extreme Metal Meets Extreme Techno compilations. Thinking few capitalized on the explosion of fabricated energy, Azagthoth incorporated the best (i.e., the worst) into Morbid Angel's aesthetic fabric. Oops!



I'm referring directly to mid-album stinker "Destructos Vs. the Earth / Attack" and to a lesser extent, lead-off compu-track "Too Extreme!" as well as Mortal Kombat ending credit themes "Omni Potens" and "Profundis - Mea Culpa." On "Destructos," I think I've been punk'd. This is really Morbid Angel and not some Rob Zombie-meets-Pitchshifter abortion? Illud Divinum Insanus gets marginally better. "Existo Vulgore," "Nevermore," "Blades of Baal" and "Beauty Meets Beast" are all well within post-Domination parameters. They're authoritative death metal, with requisite Morbid Angel twists and turns. This is more like it. Sort of. Fill-in drummer Tim Yeung is a monster, in fact, but there are times when his speed and power are enhanced by electronic effects and the result is, well, terrible. Which brings me to "Radikult." If Marilyn Manson tossed out extras from the Antichrist Superstar session, it appears as if Evil D found them.



In the end, I don't really care if Illud Divinum Insanus is grammatically incorrect.. No one speaks Latin anymore. However, I do care if Morbid Angel is sonically correct. Unfortunately, Illud Divinum Insanus is anything but. Those Laibach remixes sound absolutely brilliant right about now. -- CHRIS DICK[/quote]

I also found nothing to pertaining to any recent Trey interview on the website, nor have I heard anything about him being in guitar world, other than people talking about it on here.

dont take the drugs they give you and dont waste your time with "cbt"



you by definition realise youre being irrationally excessive - and so you also know you "just" have to stop doing whatever it is. dont let the fact they tell you you "have ocd" make you feel any less in control of what you do than anyone else is

grill her on specifics about the evidence for the use of her "treatments" and how rigorously, if at all theyve looked for side effects - especially cognitive ones.



shell spend lots of time filling out and getting you to fill out questionairres and diaries and what not, but at the end of the day shes just going to say "dont do that"



maybe shell say something like "its just a temporary reassurance". i dont know, maybe youll find that shocking



ask her about the specific problems of attributing even relatively gross cognitive complaints/issues to "an associated depression" or something. and about the issue of telling people they "have ocd" "thats why you do this" has an obvious problem of encouraging a sort of helpless bystander/patient role.

Your assumption that an anxiety disorder must always be treated with drugs showed me you don't understand how anxiety treatments work. Any psychologist worth their salt will use behavior therapy to correct anxiety driven issues such as OCD. I've experienced severe social anxiety and can vouch that drug therapy does nothing without behavior therapy.



I will agree with you, questioning your therapist is important you must trust them and they must be open with you.



I had such severe social anxiety (associated with my mild autism) I ended up a psych ward for a week with huge scabs all over my arm because I was skin picking/scratching so intensely in highschool. Drug therapy is necessary in some cases and it was in mine. While some can do more harm (I've been on some that made me worse) once you get the right mix it is a true life saver. However behavior therapy is essential in treatment as well especially anxiety.

SSRIs and/or "CBT" is the standard regime for OCD - so it seems like a reasonable guess at what someone might be doing/getting/get recommended



doesnt even really matter what she recommends, my strong advice is to make sure youre comfortable she knows what shes talking about. dont assume that just because shes an "experienced shrink" that shes not an idiot. make sure to question her on any treatment stuff she may advise about. that goes for any doctor for any condition, but especially when it comes to treatments that fuck with your central nervous system.

Psychologists, in the U.S., cannot prescribe medication. I see a psychologist. I intentionally saw a psychologist for that reason. I went through another shrink before this one that was shit and spewed a lot of the B.S. you said in your first posts. My disorder isn't bad enough where I need medication. Now quit acting like you know everything about my treatment.



And you two need to stop before you get started.

i took my clinical psych class like three or four years ago i'm probably not fit to comment intelligently on the subject anymore, if i ever was to begin with.



i hated most of the people that were in that class though. it was a survey-level class and yet you had all these people thinking they're fit to diagnose anyone with anything. it was basically like having to sit next to wikipedia-trained diagnosticians for three hours per week.
