My thoughts on Illud after some time: a review

I really enjoy certain moments on the album but I don't think there's any song I love all the way through. Beauty and Nevermore come close but Vincents vocals negatively affect my opinion on them. He sounds more aggro than demonic.



I love the first 30-40 seconds of Too Extreme, a couple riffs in Destructos and the guitar in Mea Culpa. That style could have been used VERY interestingly. Think about the Gorguts like stuff on Prayer of Hatred and then imagine Trey putting this new technique into that.



I'd certainly believe that Mea Culpa has a huge amount of guitar tracks. That sound is clearly not one layer or even 6 or 7.



What the fuck are the lyrics for Mea Culpa on about?

but thats been one of the interesting things about the tucker era, is it was less and less about hate and more and more about individual strength, spirituality &c. hateful lyrics were one of the things that led to the vincent/trey split in the first place and now we have illud, whose lyrics are about...i'm not quite sure
