I took that from my front porch a couple of years ago. This summer, I am going to try harder to get more lightning photos. I do not have any special equipment like time lapse or light sensors. I just try mine and the camera's reaction time when the lightning starts.

I've always said that if I lived in tornado prone areas I would be a storm chaser. I think I am going to career change to a meteorologist and storm photographer.

I should! I fucking love weather! I love constantly knowing the air pressure and conditions and crap and figuring out what weather is next!

Lightning is pretty common around volcanoes. In fact, recently unearthed research suggests chemical reactions in ocean water on the sides of volcanoes being struck by lightning led to organic elements forming.
