Except the bass, it's pretty low in the mix if you ask me.

[quote name="TranscendingMusic"]alright then my friends, expect something most likely tomorrow evening

I realize that what you can do without the multitrack session is limited. But do you think there's anything you can do with Fury and Flames to make the guitar more intelligible? Pity to have such great riffs go unheard. I imagine a true remix is about the only way to improve that, but thought that maybe some creative eq might make a difference.
Anyone heard the Human remix?

Yep, same shit, FL death metal bands that never got as big as Morbid Angel...and never put fucking techno and quasi-rapping on one of their records.
So we never had "I Am fruital" or "I Am Monstrous" or "I Am Resurrected." Good thing.

An excellent thing. Some of the less well known Florida bands are excellent.
Brutality were an excellent band. They had great solos and really made the most of having two guitar players but always kept it tasteful.
I never really got into Resurrection all that much... the strange narration on tracks kinda put me off.

^^Fun fact about Brutality
"Larry Sapp did not pass away, he became a woman˝, according to Jeff Acres in a 2008˝http://www.archaic-magazine.com/article.php?aid=45004
He (she

Sure man, that's a cool idea. some time next week I can try a a FnF track to see what can be done with it. And yea for sure, a true re-mix would create so much potential for those sick riffs.
So here is thorns of acacia: again, subtle harmonic enhancements and prudent cuts to generally lift the veil and let the instruments punch through. You can actually hear the guitars sort of ripping through the speaker now letting the brutality of the riffing and the performance breath better. All in all, I didn't mess too much with the vibe of the mix, it's still intact. Interesting thing too, I'm not a huge fan of the "loudness race" but I understand if a client wants it they want it. But I wouldn't compromise sonics for the sake of it. Anyway, what's cool here is that I am actually not pushing the limit as much as the original, my RMS is slightly lower but mine sounds louder without actually being louder! That's a cool thing. So check it out here:

Holy shit dude, that's really good! In the original all the "common" content (the stuff you mostly perceive in the center) in particular sounded a lot "duller" to me. It definitely cuts through better in your altered version, and as a result I felt like the vocals also came through a little better. Even feels a little like I have a bit of a wider stereo image listening to your version, but that could be my ears playing tricks on me. I've fooled with trying to do stuff like this before, but I always end up making it sound too brittle. Killer! Man, this made enough of a difference that I'm optimistic as to what you could do with Fury and Flames.
Man, usually when I buy a reissue of some sort and it's sold as a remaster, it just means it's louder and bassier. This is actually an improvement IMO. Excellent work.

Erik himself wants to do a remix one day of F&F.
I think it would create a whole different album and open it up a lot.

No shit!
I wanted to bring that up when I saw them not long ago, since I had read an interview where he said the mix was a result of needing to showcase his new rhythm section. But seeing as how the album is so personal to him due to Jared's passing, I didn't want to basically say "that album that's really important to you, the mix kinda sucks, would you ever consider remixing it."
I'd love to hear this. I think it's a brilliant album, those riffs deserve to be heard.

Re: even Deicide is on the hate wagon
Slimegod here's "Whom the gods may destroy"... so I know you get it by now, with the limitations, fidelity and the grain of salt to be taken with the "re-mastering" here, the pros, the cons, etc etc
Some general enhancements and harmonic sweetening. There is definitely a sort of "limp" extended low end that is not working in unison sort of speak with the
rest of the spectrum. I think this takes a lot of punch and power away. That was the biggest challenge here without ruining the low end. The upper mid range now has that "whoooosh" with the transients
, breathing a little more life into them. Once again, there's a lower RMS achieved here and less peak squashing but louder perceived sound! Which is really cool and leaves a ton more room
for volume maximization, for example if the "client" requested more volume.

Hate Eternal riffing is really fantastic death metal

Dude, I really like it. Much more controlled low end. That's always the big tradeoff, sometimes you sacrifice a little bit of balls for clarity. But honestly with riffing as ingenious and intricate as Rutan's, it's a no brainer for me, I need to hear those riffs. Yeah, the kick sound isn't quite as "physical" (i.e. you don't feel it in your chest as much) but it still has punch and it PUNCTUATES subdivisions as opposed to just (over)filling the lower part of the spectral space. Great work. Here's to Erik doing a full-on remix one day.
