The ILLUD-attitude
I can't understand some of the statements Dave and Trey are making these days. Do they believe that they invented the techno/industrial style into metal or what???? I mean COMMON. This is not a new thing. Have these guys heard the debut album of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD?

And of course, as for being extreme, strapping young lad had that covered. Oh my fucking god and shitstorm to name but a few.
It makes me think. All these claims that MA made around this album that it is somehow new and it turns out to be anything but. Bands pride themselves on not listening to much music out there and concentrating on their own thing, but i think doing a little research could go a long way. Especially if you want to create something new.

Perhaps they should change their name to Morbid Angel ®, as in Registered Trademark. The whole Illud thing feels like a gimmick to me, under the name of Morbid Angel. Of course, I could be wrong.
We've all discussed this over and over again since the release, but can you give me examples such as quotes from interviews of David or Trey stating that they have (as you say) invented the techno/hardcore-metal crossover? I have yet to see them actually saying this.

I don't think I've seen any interviews saying it either but I at least got that impression from many of them. I mean at least claiming they are being extreme with a song title is bad enough. I'm sure MA haven't been living under a rock that big. It has to be a joke...

I understand that one can get that impression, I had it too.
At the end of the day, I just want to forget about this album.

The funny thing is the same bands who say that shit will often claim how they are huge fans of music..seems more like they are fans of themselves.

You know, my knee-jerk reaction was "but then, you wouldn't have the song ______" but then I realized...I can live without EVERY SINGLE SONG on this record. Even the few that I like. Honestly the one and only thing on Illud that I feel is a nearly essential addition to the catalog is that last solo on Beauty Meets Beast. And even in that case Trey has done stuff along those lines before, although not often with as much traditionally melodic direction. So really...if this album had ever happened, not only would the body of work be unaffected, it'd be better off.

Maybe to stem the tide of negative press, they'll go back and remix HERETIC and offer it as a free download. Then everyone will have something new to listen for the next few years.

Re: The ILLUD-attitude
The ILLUD-attitude is one of Pure Imagination Playground that contains massive amounts of fun, occult, extremes and Godlike ecstasy - I bow in front of the Mighty ILLUD DIVINUM INSANUS!!!
This is Heavenly music and as Hellish as possible at the same time
And to my ears, there are no bands that would release this kind of music - Morbid Angel definately have influences from other music too, but they allways put a BIG Morbid Angel stamp on anything that influences them and make it their own!
All those bands in this thread are lifeless compared to ILLUD - ILLUD just marches over them MARCH! MARCH! MARCH!

Hey, that's great that it's no joking matter for you.
Unfortunately, Morbid Angel DOES seem to be a joking matter for Trey and Evil D. As demonstrated by the latest album.

What the fuck? You obviously like to throw words around without knowing what they even mean. Fun and occult? Fun and godlike?
:::::
Saying stuff like "I am morbid", "we are living it hardcore and radical", "we've been crossing the line since 1989", etc. may sound like FUN to you (although I cannot see how, frankly), but it's nowhere near sounding occult, nor godlike.
You are nothing but a fanboi. A textbook example of the fanboy. Hell, you are even redefining what this very word means.

You can still like a band and have ears to hear (see what I did there?).
Go find a hobby. If your only interest is in music you will live a miserable and depressing life (as if eastern Europe wasn't already bad), just like (pseudo) musicians.

That's actually a great comparison. Look at Grand Declaration of War if you want to see an electronic metal album that doesn't fail completely.

Agreed. That actually WAS innovative, polarizing, out of the box, and clearly not meant to win a bigger audience. Black metal's Into the Pandemonium. It really DID stay true to the essence of what Mayhem was, despite it being different aesthetically.
