I'm more of a humanities person myself.

I think the division between "humanities people" and "science/maths people" is entirely artificial and does nothing but discourage people who would otherwise give the sciences a serious try. In school I was generally outperformed in math by people who claimed they were of the humanities type. They went on to study law etc and I'm in 3rd year physics, having completed all of my math courses.



Its more of an attitude thing.

Its funny because when one take self-ordering systems such animals and plants and life into account, the second law of thermodynamics makes one feel very strange indeed.

You'd have to specify what precise statement of the 2nd law you're using and how you're extending it to life. I think that's way too much of a stretch. Also the notion of self-ordering seems fuzzy at best.

Look up the physical meaning of entropy. Grossly stated, its a measure of disorder.



Say you have a closed canister of a gas in a room in vacuum. You open the valve on the canister and unless there are any other forces acting on it(ie gravity), the gas will ideally diffuse and fill out the entire room until it adapts to the new constraints(the walls). In a closed system(no energy exchange with the surroundings), entropy will either remain constant or increase as long as the final state is compatible with the constraints you have.



You will age, die and decompose into tiny bits that will spread out quite a lot. But they'll be generally confined to the earth. I hope that has lightened up your day.

Not sure what you mean. You take in air much like a syringe when you contract your diaphragm (you're doing work/using energy). If you relax completely there will be some air left inside, whatever is allowed by your lungs' natural unstretched volume.
