the movie's already out in japan since a week or so ago, but it's a theatrical release so it's gonna take time. on the plus side, the second and third movies are supposedly both going to be out in june, which i think covers the entire golden age arc (which covers the bulk of the TV series, minus the first episode). kind of weird that they didn't start out with the black swordsman arc, i guess that will come after golden age and lead straight into retribution. no idea on the timetable for anything after golden age, could be later this year but i'd put money on that starting in 2013.

I'm unaware of this series. What should I check out? I'm trying to catch up on my anime these days.

The animated series is a good start, but its only a small part of the story. The manga is way more graphic. Anything goes: men, women and children get brutally murdered and raped. It really is the best dark epic fantasy story ever conceived IMO.

Oh yeah and watch the original with subs, the English dubbing is atrocious:

It is the best manga in existence. Ever.

They've taken liberties with this anime, but I like what I'm seeing. I'm really excited.

Get on that shit yo.

I've been rewatching it again in English, I recant my previous statement about the dub being atrocious. Its ok, but I think American accents for a medieval themed story aren't particularly fitting, and Griffith's voice is horrible.

I'm watching it now. Its the same style of dub that most animes employ. No biggy.

Its fucking awesome :greenie: "I'll suck the flesh from your bloody bones." :xx:

It is your fate. :grim: Berserk does that to people. I started re-reading the manga, I easily get sucked into reading 2-3 volumes at a time.

I enjoy the pace of it. The dark, epic battles are always followed by some nice, feelgood drama. :redneck:

It only gets better. The ending will jizz in your face and you will desperately want to read the manga. I can assure you won't get anything done as soon as you're done with the anime as a consequence, so plan your next few weeks accordingly. :redneck:

New trailer for the 2nd Berserk movie:

Fuuuuuck my life I need to see this.

Looks like it'll be following the manga more than the anime (the anime omitted some of the more fucked up scenes). Awesome.

yeah, the one that always stands out to me is how the anime never really goes into the details on the whole guts/gambino thing. :oldryan::::::

the wait for this shit to leak/get fansubbed is maddening

alright, so the first movie will get a BD/DVD release at the end of may. so we're still probably close to three months away from a decent fansub popping up :eyes::::::::::::::::::::::

The scarce details were effective though, I watched the anime first and I thought the nightmare about getting pinned down by a huge hand was a dead giveaway of a metaphor.
That torture shit with Griffith was fucked up. :oldryan:
Muuuch more fucked up in the manga (there's an exchange Griffiths has with the king before getting locked away, which is what is depicted in the trailer (hence why I mentioned it being closer to the manga)). One word: Fritzl.

...and I just finished reading the 8 newest chapters of the manga. I thought that would satisfy my needs after that trailer... but it seems to have made it worse. :oldryan: Miura sure knows how to write one mean splendid mate of mine of a story.
