The fast part of the song is kind of cool, but I think that's just because the rest of it is so stupid. Back me up on this Google [Bot]

Re: 10 more dead
When I first listened to illvd I thought it was decent, but now I simply go meh. I am curious to hear how it sounds live, though. Mayhaps they'll play this on their upcoming tour? I haven't checked the setlists for any of their recent European shows.

I hope you're right. I'm already going to be disappointed since queen dave refuses to play anything from F, G and H

Since there is great amount of good music in world, i dont care about things that are not much interesting.
I just sometimes listen to beauty meets beets and radikult because the solos in there are one the most beautiful pieces by Trey.

I haven't touched Illud since my initial disgust and I never will, it can rot. (not that it wasn't already a pre-decomposing aborted mess)
Forcing yourself to listen to rubbish because it contains a few decent riffs or solo pieces buried beneath the garbage isn't worth anybodies time.

If it took 20 guitar tracks to make some of those songs sound the way Trey wanted I don't even know why they'd bother performing them live, especially since most people hate the music anyway. I'd be bored out of my mind listening to something as repetitive and stupid as "Too Extreme" at a live show.

that sounds so silly. i think someone here said that you can't even hear a difference after so many guitar tracks?

It was either Tom, Uni, or Bob, I think. And you're right, it is a silly excuse.

I doubt Nothing Is Not had 20 guitar tracks and that's one of the most crushing songs I've EVER heard

10 more Dead, Blades for Baal, Nevermore, Existo Vulgoré and Beauty Meets Beast would make a solid EP.
10 more Dead is good but the sound remains basically the same and makes tired of listening after a while.

I know it's relative, but "Blades for Baal" is pretty fruital at times--I bet it would sound pretty good live since the guitars are more present. Also, as for the electronic ones, "Mea Culpa" has some pretty good riffs if it had real drums. Some of it would sound insane live!
I am the Dragon. And you call me insane. You are privy to a great becoming, but you recognize nothing. To me, you are a slug in the sun. You are an ant in the afterbirth. It is your nature to do one thing correctly: Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe.

Re: 10 more dead
Face it, this album is a disgrace to the Morbid Angel legacy, but, more bands have had their try out album in the past, only to come back to their senses and return to their former style.
Argueable examples: Megadeth, Celtic Frost, Metallica, Kreator, Amorphis, Nightfall, Paradise Lost, Aborted, Rotting Christ, and currently Cryptopsy & Queensryche with Rising West.
I'd rather focus on the J album, or K album because J sounds wimpy.

Illud wasn't just a "try out" album, it was a complete shit disaster.

nitpick time: amorphis never really returned to a previous style (and IMO there's no way they could hope to replicate the success of something like karelian or tales or elegy). they just settled on the really polished poppy heavy metal sound after pasi left.

Well...it's not as bad as, say, 'C0ld Lake'. Which is, admittedly, damning with faint praise.

'Facing' was intended for the people here who are focussing on the little sparks that somwhat seem to resemble the old quality.
I agree on the disaster part, but 'try out' is not just trying a different style, also trying to reach a new audience, seeing if sales would go up etc etc..

Well, at some point they lost the grunt singing and later, with the current singer, got it back, figuring the music still needs it like it did before.
