hmm i dunno. he seemed kinda apologetic when he said that though, like a return to what they do best would be in order, but of course that's hopeful thinking. At least I'm certain it will be much a better record than gleeso, that should be accomplished by default :redneck:

Why anyone would think it's a good idea for Morbid Angel to release a new album is fucking beyond me.

What are you talking about? Morbid Angel hasn't released a new album since 2003!

On the serious, we're talking about a new album without Pete and with Trey still wanting to "experiment" like the last album. What the hell do you think is going to come out of this?

I feel their remorse, however much David Hollywood tries to hide it. They will return :thingy

As far as experimentation goes, They never repeat themselves and MA albums are all very different, I'm not expecting anymore industrial shit.

That's the direction Trey wants to move in.

Trey should just start a new project if he wants to do more industrial music.

All this talk is already old. We'll hear a possible new album when there is a new album. In the end, I just don't really give a damn anymore.

The point of this thread really was because a lot of folks assumed the band would probably call it quits after gleeso. The moment in the video however somewhat indicates this is not going to be the case, for good or bad.

New album coming? Well this may as well be true.

Some hard-on bearer posted the following as a comment on Blabbermouth. May be total bullshit, but the part about SOM arguing with MA over them wanting Too extreme! to be the opening track on Gleeso was also mentioned by Punchy once I believe:

"Here is a little story for you, from someone who wants to stay in the dark due to his involvement in the business, entertaining reading if you ask me :

"Season Of Mist paid morbid angel $250,000 for a 2 album deal.

They hated the album and Michael Berberian (SOM's boss), tried to have the order of the songs rearanged : he was against the idea that the album would start with "Too Extreme!" because then at first listen people will know its a shit album instead of hearing the fruital tracks first so it would fool people into liking it when they sample the first couple of songs, this is why he released the single of "Nevermore", he added the remix as a test. When he realized that he would not make much money on the album, he did what any label does to make sure they make at least their money back : they promote the fuck out of it,...

You can promote anything and it will sell, because even if its shit, when people see the logo, it's psychological to want to get it... it's just the world of advertising schemes, like McDonalds , and shitty pop music. In the process, SOM dropped EVERY band that was releasing records that month (Necrophagia, Benighted, Nader Sadek and others) with either NO promotion or hardly any, so they can concentrate really hard on selling Illud Crapinum Insanus.

Eventually SOM and Morbid Angel got in a big fight because one of SOM's employees nicknamed DV as Dave "Hollywood" Vincent. David Vincent heard about it and flipped out creating a big problem with SOM."

This is probably true, but why then release a double remix album afterwards? This will sell even less, so why did SOM do this?

Don't get me wrong, it's a valid call to say the next album would be industrial, as I too have heard that is the direction Trey wants to move in. I'm just going by the precedent that all MA albums have this unique, different quality to them all the while containing MA signature sound and composition style. Even if this next album does have traces of industrial I just hope they do a vastly better job of it. But I'd rather they stayed away from it obviously.

I think you're right, but it didn't really help I guess. The album sold not very well, the wooden box was a failure and I doubt that remix album was a succes.

Maybe it's also because of declining album sales, why then make a real effort in making new high standard music? The money is in the concerts nowadays anyway.

A new interview with Vincent: <!-- m -->http://www.69facesofrock.com/morbid_ang ... rview.html<!-- m -->

'The band is still together' suggests the band might've fallen apart in the past. To me it's obvious he keeps it running nowadays.

I'm still amazed by the lack of self-criticizing concerning the album which contains washed up music taken from other styles.

If they go back to being MA, it's great news: go out on a great note.

If it's this same uninspired, banal imposter of a band mascarading as MA then no, it's not good news.

without pedro behind the kit, disco do still being himself and destructhor churning out bland solos and stage presence, it will most likely be the latter.

the fact that trey really doesn't seem to be interested in writing extreme music anymore doesn't help much either :homework:[/quote]
