Faster.
And
the taskbar is waaay better. The functionality of this thing just destroys the XP and Vista taskbars.

You're retarded.
You can, however, choose to use small icons on the taskbar, which reduces the height to below the orb (similar to Vista's look) but I prefer it with the default larger icons.

Re: Post your desktop
Is 7 faster than Vista? Would I really benefit at all from upgrading?

Re: Post your desktop
Yes.
At default installation, it is not volumes faster, but it is inherently slimmer and can be made to be galaxies faster than Vista can. That's strictly from a performance standpoint. From a functionality standpoint, you also pick up speed from several of the new features (the new Aero features, jump lists, Libraries, etc.).
While I was using the RC, my hard drive failed (pure hardware failure, not OS related) and the replacement drive was back to Vista. I instantly missed the new functionality I'd quickly gotten used to.
Over all, I can't tell you if it's worth upgrading for you because I am not you. (Thank god)

aaaaaaand 7 is a shit ton more stable and less buggy than Vista, even after the fixes and improvements its undergone in the last few years.

Are you sure you're happy with w7 aren't just telling yourself that to justify what you paid for it?
I always had UAC disabled, and Vista has not once crashed on me. Meh, I guess I'll treat this like every other Windows release, I'll only bother with it when I buy a new PC and it happens to come with it. By the time that comes I think w7 will be obsolete.

yeah, I didn't impulse buy. I hammered at the RC for a couple of months before making the decision.
