Imagine if Biden wins AZ, Penn, NV, and Georgia. That would be a crushing victory at 306 electoral votes. Would that be a landslide victory though? What qualifies as a landslide?
a landslide would have been the 413-125 split we all thought was the realistic ceiling, plus five or six senate seats and 20 more house seats, plus state legislatures

the closest thing to a landslide in our adult lives was obama in 2008

voter sard (apathy) is ultimately what gets republicans elected. historically whenever there is large voter turn out (such as Obama) it heavily favors democrats - at all levels. this year was really something else though... never expected so many people to still support these shithead republicans - just goes to show how effective propaganda is these days thanks to the internet and cable news.

nothing bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea has been able to find sticks, judicially. and the pennsylvania line being suggested for the last few weeks even if successful won't adjust the result

it looks like biden may have won enough states by enough margins to counter the judicial attacks that may actually manage to filter through

but there is still a chance bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea will manage it

there are no reasonable judicial attacks to be had

every lawsuit the republicans have filed so far has either been laughed out of court because the shit the suit claimed wasn't happening actually was happening or because the counting in the state was already over. after suing to have republican poll watchers in philadelphia they got humiliated by a judge who got the republicans' lawyer to admit the party already had poll watchers in place. they sued to stop counting in michigan after michigan was done counting. their only "wins" have been to get poll watchers in place in certain districts, which is already something mandated by state law

as stormlet pointed out, bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea himself has an extensive history of filing frivolous lawsuits either to exhaust the resources of the person he's filing against or to forestall the inevitable. in this case, he's not going to bankrupt an entire political party and he can't get the states with outstanding votes to stop counting those votes, there are simply no legal grounds for doing so

nothing that's happening with the extra days it's taking to call a winner is the least bit unusual once you remember that 100 million americans voted early or by absentee ballot, and those votes are almost always counted last in almost every single state. our rickety election system was not meant to operate as quickly as usual under pandemic conditions

all that's happening right now is toddler outrage. and as i have learned over the last few years, while toddler outrage can be maddeningly stressful, the best things to do in the face of it is ignore it, start laughing, or announce that it's time for a nap

it's also worth pointing out that bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea's extensive record of frivolous lawsuits contains so many more losses than wins that he should probably be considered a vexatious litigant in every US state and several foreign countries if not lassoed and strung up from the nearest hardwood tree when spotted within ten city blocks of a courthouse

i guess i don't really know of another way to characterize an election which is close enough that it will take at least a week or more to tease out who actually won it, and where the democrats lost ground in the house and failed to retake the senate. if the only legally allowed opposition party cannot retake power after the events of 2020 and continues to show zero signs of changing course, we are in very deep trouble. will it be an improvement over bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea? sure. but it's at best a temporary pause in the US' trajectory, we are headed for some extremely dark times over the next decade that will make the last four years look quaint by comparison.

there is no path back for america's current president in pennsylvania, and biden doesn't need any other state to win. even if arizona flips back and every other current undecided state suddenly and impossibly breaks for bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea it won't matter

now it's just a question of when the networks make their calls

i agreed with you up until the comma splice in your last sentence

the current and worst president america has ever had lost

there will be ongoing fallout from his supporters, bootlickers, &c

i will also add that while the left and the democratic party can't seem to cohere on any fucking thing and that is a huge and stupid problem, fucking way more people voted for biden than for bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea. even more than voted for clinton in 2016

even after what turned out to have been a horrifically run campaign, at least 4.5 million more people voted for the dude who isn't the worst president of all time than the dude who is

point being, there are more of us than them. a simple fact, but an important one

Yea, Biden's got a comfortable lead in Nevada now. It's got to be all over. Biden could be headed towards 306 electoral votes if he keeps AZ.

I am sooooo ready to finally not see T's name on the headlines every...single...day. Him, his daughter Ivanka and all his family can finally go fuck off into the background.

same here - I said to a coworker this: "even if Biden turns out to be a mediocre president - It'll still be better than what we have now. I just want a return to normalcy where there isn't some damn tweet or scandal being talking about EVERY. SINGLE. DAY." I don't know if they came up with it but they replied with "MAKE POLITICS BORING AGAIN". couldn't agree more.

Biden isn't going to fix everything, but he sure as hell can undo some of the damage done.

sure he can do that, but i doubt he will. he's the Decency President™ after all, which is going to mean rigid adherence to stupid norms even if they impede the ability to effectively govern.

if he does though, i don't imagine it would be for candidates deemed 'too liberal' to pass the senate.
