It baffles me bands are already posting 2021 tour dates to just probably cancel them

I will not. At least not until the vaccine has been widely distributed and the majority have gotten it. Maybe around next summer/fall hopefully. At least 6 months.

Might be some contractual shit with venues that things aren't outright getting canceled.

Re: If concerts open back up next year sometime
i had this horrible thought the other day about how all venues will go out of business and they will be replaced by corporate owned venues. even the little dive bars. livenation or ticketmater will capitalize on the fall down in a giant display of homosexuality of the concert business and take over. there will be new laws requiring all live events to be held in these corporate venues to reduce the spread of potential infection. they'll take your temperature at the door and have access to your medical records. a bad temp reading will automatically ban you from all venues

ticketmaster already controls the ticketing sector via their acquisition of livenation (thanks obama), but you are correct that there will be a massive consolidation of venue ownership. state laws would be superfluous since monopolies will own everything anyway. the temp check/medical records thing would be a nonstarter for venue owners though as it would likely necessitate heavy investment in hipaa compliance which is very costly.

they'll cut deals with some barely functional medical record API company that will inevitably end with a lot of exposed medical records, IT'S GONNA HAPPENjawn galliano wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020, 02:03the temp check/medical records thing would be a nonstarter for venue owners though as it would likely necessitate heavy investment in hipaa compliance which is very costly.

Thankfully I live in ND and we don’t get a ton of shows anyways.

Been to a few in Baltimore over the years but the biggest one is the copycat warehouse. The damn thing has its own wiki pageBurton C. Bell wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020, 09:35if that happens I will happily get more involved in the DIY scene. warehouse shows for the win!

find a building that is built in such a way that it basically acts as a faraday cage.
