The Ukraine/Russia ordeal

Post by vO)))id »

So, are we headed for WW3? Or will NATO/France/Germany/US keep their heads cool and keep their distance?

It's a complex problem and Ukraine isn't just 1 country, it's devised in many sections and Russia is currently at the Eastern border, which this Eastern part of Ukraine is already 95% Russian. This border is friendly to Russia.
But it's the Western part we must worry about.

I think we should stay out of it because it's none of our business.
I also appreciate that there is a lot of history to study here and understand the signs after the coupe in 2014, and what they mean now. I do see similarities between the post WW1 era that logically lead into WW2. I hope this time it won't escalate that far.

What are your thoughts (if you have any)?

I must add that CNN and western media in general isn't explaining the situation in a realistic way at all. So don't pay too much attention to them.

I pray there isn’t war with russia. My country is in the pockets of companies like lockheed nartin who profit from war. This is why both sides are pushing for something its money for defense contracts which is horrible for americans who have zero business there, Russians, and Ukrainians. Our governments give zero fucks about us though.

The smart thing to do would to assure Russia Ukraine isn’t entering nato. They most likely never will anyways, a war involving nuclear armed countries is scary. A war with Russua, who actually knows what they are doing is scary. I get why russia doesn’t want nato on their doorstep but i do not understand why my country is obsessed with Ukraine from a tactical standpoint. If someone knows please explain?

You are right about the media in America they are part of the problem as well. They are ruled by money like any corporation and sensationalize as well as spread the propaganda of whoever pays them at the time. This includes china and lobbyists.

i am politically illiterate so all i will say is that i really really hope things deescalate and nothing happens. the world already sucks pretty hard these days, throwing a war on top of that would be ..something

Well, it's Nato pushing the Ukrainian/Russian border. President Macron is too arrogant so I worry about the Nato part.

President Putin is always playing the long game and thinking strategically.

If the Ukraine wants to join NATO or the EU let them do so, Russia can fuck off. The USSR sucked and people remembered. War would hurt Putin's bank account so that's probably not happening

the contingent of ukrainians who want to join NATO are the ones we have been funneling weapons and money to (who are by and large all nationalists, the descendants of OUN-B and other fascist factions who are not at all shy about their affinity for ethnic cleansing and history of nazi collaboration). and insofar as the ukrainian government may express some desire to join NATO that is similarly true because we installed a western-friendly government. it is a direct violation of the agreement the western bloc made with russia at the dissolution of the soviet union. as always, this is driven entirely by western aggression in service of its imperialist aims

Stormy has it correct. There are neo nazis in the nationalist groups and there are neo nazi groups. They are as anti russian as it gets.
The Nato is violating the treaty here. Hence my worries about what this could escalate to.

Nobidy us gonna adress ukranian lobbyists buying off us politicians? Doesn’t sound like imperialism so much as greed. I guess they go hand in hand though.

You know who has shockingly been calling ukraine and the us out regarding this? Tucker carlson he was the last person i expected to say is right on anything but a broken clock chines right twice a day right? Hes now on about the canadian truckers and im done with him again though, was hust nice to hear some common sense with foreign policies i feel we lack that in aamerica.

I think its good that crowd is against the defense contractors now, would be best for the world if the US backs off a lot (doubt we will).

oh of course there's plenty of grift on both the US and ukrainian sides. hunter biden's involvement in shady ukrainian dealings has been publicly documented going back at least as far as 2014-2015, long before it got sucked into the 2020 election discourse vortex. and you're absolutely right, all the DC lobby shops have been the recipients of dump trucks full of ukrainian cash to keep the project at the forefront of the political and media establishment's attention.

important to keep in mind that tucker, like all the other neocon politicians and commentators who have been quick to criticize stoking conflict in ukraine, does not do so out of any principled objection to war or imperial meddling. their guff is that this distracts from building a war with china. they are bloodthirsty freaks who are just trying to manufacture consent for a different war

I dont want war with China but I do feel they should be held accountable for many atrocities including their role in covid. There are ways without war to do this.

Regarding tucker i know it’s ulterior motives its just nice to hear common sense where you can get it.

Russian imperialism started in early 18th century. Great Northern War, Crimean War, wars in central Asia, with Japan and China, partition of Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. As soon as civil war after Russian Empire fall down in a giant display of homosexuality finished Russians attacked Ukraine, Belarus and Transcaucasia. Then was Second World War, creation of Warsaw Pact. After Soviet Union collapsed Russia and Belarus created Union State of Russia and Belarus, which in fact made Belarus dependent to Russia. Wars in Chechnya, Georgia, annexation of Crimea. Making European Union dependent to Russian natural gas (remember supply disruptions of gas year ago), interference in American elections, financing religious fanatics and anti EU propaganda in Poland and other East European countries.
Aleksandr Dugin is quite important person in Russian political philosophy. He claims, that Russia should exist in borders of Warsaw Pact, and whole Europe should be in Russian sphere of influence. He is strongly anti western, anti democratic, pan-slavic and he is Russian nationalist. His influence on Putin and Russian army is quite strong. Putin is megalomaniac and it's highly possible that he will not stop with Ukraine.

There is zero evidence of russian i terferance in our elections.

Putin absolutely is a despicable human being but he knows his country’s economy is fragile. I am unsure how he could take over europe or anything other than Ukraine without China’s help financially. Neither are friendly to the world this is absolutely true.

Imperialism sounds more like China’s deal (which no credible person calls out) considering they are playing loan shark to poor country’s and buying resources and land including farms once they inevitably default this on top of buying influence in country’s like the US unlike russian interference which has been disproven this is widely known and proven. War is not the answer to deal with either country but they both should be held accountable.

The thing both russia and china are excellent at is cheating st the Olympics which is further confirmation the olympics are a joke.

Scrap what i said earlier this appears an attempt to restart ussr and looks to be bigger than just Ukraine.

This could get horrible really fast and is very scary for everyone.

I blame obama for not responding in 2014 and Biden for interfering and many politicians for taking bribes on all sides. Hell clinton disarmed ukraine in the gloryhole era .

It’s horrifying

This could have been prevented had Europe and tbe US not stopped oil production. This act emboldened Putin. Everyone should crank up oil and start on nuclear energy immediately. Can’t really help the other russian exports like food. But this is how we keep putin in check, sanctions only risk the dollar weakening.

The un is a joke russia and china are both on the security council.

well, 'ukrainian insurgent army' is the english translation of the UPA, which was OUN-B's paramilitary organization... not exactly what i'd call subtle!
