Getting by. Got an interview tomorrow for roughly the same money I'm making now. I'm just not super into this heavy duty gig I've got currently. I feel like doing it on the light duty side would be more my thing.

I pretty much spend my day driving around, walk into a shop for 2 or 3 minutes and get told they dont need anything, leave, go to the next shop. Supposed to find new business and grow the current. But there's not many businesses popping up everyday that use heavy duty trucks. The ones I already deal with get good deals on shit and only buy what's necessary. Just doesn't feel like there's a lot there, you know?

The hard-on bearer I trained with is also transitioning back to his old role of business development. We've both been working the same customer list but he's taking 5 big accounts from it. Along with overseeing 2 huge corporate accounts (ryder/penske). Could potentially be a big hit on commission losing 5 accounts that you can count on to spend well over 10k a month each.

it is hard to keep track of your post-security career nick, i always think you are doing something else. like right now i thought you were at a shop doing parts for mercedes. maybe i just invented that or you got a new job and i forgot about it.

Toyota for 2 years and benz parts for almost 3 years. Ended up at a Ford dealer that didn't pay enough until I found this heavy duty gig. Today's interview is Ford too, but a different dealer group and they were up front about dollars on the initial phone call.

It's so god damn hard trying to find a dealer who wants to actually pay anyone who slings parts.

i am so lazy with cars, i just do whatever the shop says. no problems with the current one though, it is 2020 model at 50,000 kms so will probably be OK for 5 years or so and will prob sell it by then

Ups and downs. Trying to make the best of things. At least I have a house out here so I can get some equity instead of throwing money into the void on apartment rent.

I'm in super chess form, I hope it lasts. There's some flicker of hope that not all in life is drab and average. I've even made some adaptations in my daily routine, more sleep less alcohol. In this way it benefits my health :santa:
Hope to squarsh 100kg before the end of the year, a low target but it sounds nice
I've been buying a lot of stuff, books, cd, lp. I've started on the Handmaids Tale, I like it

I have no idea how anyone can afford to rent a place. You and the wife looking to get out of there?

feeling, somewhat cautiously, very good. i am always suspicious of things appearing to go well; this usually portends great personal catastrophe.

this year i have undergone a very intensive effort aimed at fixing a lot of stuff that was broken in my brain for most of my life, and i think for the most part i have had a lot of success in that endeavor. vast new psychic and affective territories that felt permanently closed off seem to have opened up. which introduces all manner of new challenges and novel problems of course, but that keeps things interesting. it remains to be seen whether this will translate into any larger changes, there are still a great many significant things i am dissatisfied with in my life. but i am content with how things are progressing along so far, which is itself a new and unexpected sensation.

I see us sticking around for at least a few more years. We just had a bunch of improvements done on the house so it'd be weird to sell and move now, unless one of us gets a stupid good paying job somewhere else.

I've talked to the wife about doing a bigger trip for my 40th next year. The tentative destination is Texas at the moment. Being a vintage toy collector, Dallas vintage toys has long been on my list of places to check out. Probably do a day or two in Dallas and spend the rest of the time getting weird down in Austin.

We for sure will meet up and jam a beer or 3 while I'm down there. ctrl+6

I'm okay. Going back to school in the spring semester. Freelancing right now and living life as best I can.
Foliage colors are really muted this year, but the temps have been nice and cool. Sleeping better, finally.

Two exes (ones I still care about and talk to) presently have cancer. One is terminal. The other is pretty dire but still has treatment options. I've had a lot of people I care about around me die over the last couple of years. Been all up in depression at that and world events, but getting by.

ein grim winter approaches :grim:

nice. :santa:

that's good, my mum is a social worker, i remember when she did the degree i was 7-8yrs old and i was made to help her with her assessments. like i had to act like a grumpy kid and stuff in their group VHS assignments. then she was with public health government for 13 years, now she is private sector, behavioral therapist for a disability support services provider. she did her masters in social work and a masters in child psychotherapy. that's why i turned out the way i did. i had to talk about my dreams a lot while i ate cereal every morning
