i can't help but wonder why luigi made some really stupid decisions during his setup and getaway. like why would he continue to carry a gun or go eat in a mcdonalds. i assume he wanted to get caught for whatever reason

Um, I gots all kinds of things to say about this, just look back to american penal systtems history. There's some kind of weird fascination with serial killers as well. People used to send them money and fan letters. But its false at the same time.

i don't think serial killer fandom maps onto this example very well, unless you throw out every single particular past 'both cases involve killing'

this is just the predictable outcome of our system of absolute elite impunity. of course people support him, the whole entire business model of health insurance is getting fabulously rich through pushing people into destitution and legally-sanctioned murder. healthy societies shouldn't tolerate that sort of thing!

America loves vigilante justice, shit has been romanticized for generations in films and novels. It's not surprising Luigi gets such widespread love when most people on the receiving end of private healthcare correctly view it as a mass-murdering enterprise that is never held accountable.

It would be immensely weirder if this singular act of gun violence would get the US' collective panties in a bunch about violence all the sudden.

Yeah, what happened to Kirk has happened before. Im pretty sure Kirk had 100 percent knowledge that kind of thing could happen. Doesn't make it right that he was assassinated.
