Mike Browning (Nocturnus AD, Ex-Morbid Angel, Etc.) Has Passed Away

Drummer/vocalist Mike Browning has passed away at the age of 62. Browning was a co-founder of the influential death metal outfit Morbid Angel and was active in that band from 1983-1986. Following his departure, Browning kept busy in the decades that followed, playing in various other projects such as Nocturnus, Nocturnus AD, After Death, Acheron, Atlanta, GA-based Incubus, and more.

Profound Lore Records announced his passing earlier today, July 13th, stating:

“RIP death metal legend/sci-fi death metal godfather Mike Browning of Nocturnus/Nocturnus AD. Journey beyond the gateway to the outer void!

‘Before Christ – I ruled the land
After Death – I will rule once again'”

Morbid Angel also paid tribute, offering:

“R.I.P Mike, thanks for helping making all this happen.
Our condolences to his family & especially his daughter.”

Mike had a unique influence on Morbid Angel, something that maybe deserved more time and better recordings. I didn't read what Trey wrote
