It's funny because if D's really "rigged" the election, why wouldn't they take the senate too?

So glad we don't have to live in a fascist hellscape :gay:
I’ve already had this convo with a few morons. Just tell them

“It it was really rigged - do you really believe that we would have let Mitch ducking McConnell stay in power?! Like if the democrats really had the power you claim he would have lost in a fucking landslide, which unfortunately didn’t happen”

I just hope no one does anything stupid. Even before the election when everyone was worried about “riots” I was always way more concerned about some trumper deciding to go postal than some jackasses looting a target.

Also, when it was announced today I just happened to be outside and there was suddenly an uproar of people cheering and honking car horns all over like we just won the Super Bowl or something - it was kind of nuts.

Yep. Started talking about raising the minimum wage to $15/hour and then everyone losing their jobs. Biden isn’t even for a $15 min wage. I think he only mentioned it to try pickup some progressives. He and my cousin both think he’s a socialist. He’s a fucking moderate Republican. The whole thing would be hilarious if it weren’t so terrifying.

I heard Kamala's speech. It was all good until she specifically mentioned 'black'. I mean if she's gonna go the race-praising route, shouldn't she have mentioned Hispanic/Latino, Middle-Eastern, Asians, and other races in the US as well (or at least use some sort of umbrella term?) Isn't that right there a sign of non-inclusivity? Or is it that US politicians nowadays are very 'careful' about making sure that blacks are praised at every opportunity because of BLM?

she’s half black

she was talking about the often overlooked or underpraised work black women do in america, and speaking as a member of that group

in this case, that work includes unglamorous organizing and voter registering (see for example stacey abrams) as well as voting democrat at the highest level of any gender or ethnic group

Obama was also half black, and president, and it didn't lead to substantial improvements in the state of black people. Street shootings by vice squad and civilians who gave stand your ground excuses were happening under Obama as well.

he asked why kamala harris singled out black in her speech, and i explained that

did you want her speech to fix race relations forever, or maybe for one of obama's speeches to have done that

or is the word "black" a shiny thing you have to chase across the room

100% same. He wasn’t at all political until this year. He somehow thinks bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea has done an outstanding job with covid even as three of his coworkers and his mom (my grandma, duh) all contracted it in the last week.

manchin has already pretty much announced he won't vote with dems so yeah, assuming a W in both runoffs and that you could get every other dem on board you're still capping out at 49. ossoff i believe is campaigning on a similar message that he won't support any progressive policies (because that strategy worked out brilliantly in the house). so yeah, any way you slice it, biden's agenda will be limited to what can be done via executive order. there won't be any further stimulus passed and the dems don't get to have any kind of legislative agenda.
